Rennen Collective | Misconceptions

There are several misconceptions about Porsche cars that are commonly held by people who are not familiar with the brand. Some of the biggest misconceptions include:

  1. Porsche cars are only for rich people: While Porsche cars can be expensive, there are a variety of models available at different price points, and not all Porsche owners are wealthy. A few models recommended for entry level Porsche's are: 928, Carrera (996-997 generations), Cayman and Boxster. If you are looking at SUV's, the base Cayenne is a great vehicle with room for the family.

  2. Porsche cars are not practical: While it is true that some Porsche models are not as practical as other types of vehicles, many Porsche models have plenty of space for passengers and luggage and can be used for everyday driving. Some of our team at Rennen Collective own a 997 Carrera S that fits a baby car seat in the back, 996 Turbo with a car seat, Macan Turbo for a full-size SUV needed for weekend getaways with the family. Both the 996 and 997's have the perfect amount of space for day trips with the family or even an overnighter.

  3. Porsche cars are not reliable: While it is true that any car can experience issues, Porsche cars are generally quite reliable and are built to a high standard. Many Porsche models have a reputation for being long-lasting and durable. With a littler Rennen Collective research, 70% of all Porsche vehicles ever built are still on the road today and our personal Porsche's have all been very reliable with basic maintenance as any other vehicle.

  4. Porsche cars are not fuel efficient: While some Porsche models may not be as fuel efficient as other types of cars, there are many Porsche models available that are relatively fuel efficient, especially when compared to other sports cars. While 911's are not meant to be fuel efficient, 911's get between 18-25mpg. For a sports car, we think that is dang good! Other models such as the Macan, Boxster, and Cayman are great choices. If you are looking to purchase an E-Hybrid you can choose from the Cayenne and Panamera or go with the electric Porsche Taycan.

  5. Porsche cars are not good for the environment: While it is true that some Porsche models may not be as environmentally friendly as some other types of vehicles, the company is working to develop more sustainable and eco-friendly options. Porsche currently has the Cayenne, Panamera, GT, and Taycan.
